This beautiful house is a small cottage located in Fernando de Noronha, the most famous beach in Brazil. It’s not so big: only one bedroom (with TV and air conditioner), a bathroom, a small kitchen with refrigerator, stove and microwave, a living room and a large balcony, that has a beautiful view of the sea. The house has wooden floors. The yard is big and has a small swimming pool. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. There are supermarkets and drugstores near here and it’s a short drive from the beaches. Near here, there are some perfect areas to do tracks and walking. This house is perfect to people who want to find a cheap house to stay while traveling in this beautiful island. by Angela Pires Intermediate 2

Name: Aline Gonçalves dos Santos Writing is hard! When Susan asked me to do a piece of writing to collaborate with her blog, I thought: What could I write about? I couldn’t come up with a subject. Then I realized, that to be able to write, the most important thing is simply to practice. The more you write, the better you get on it! I can imagine how difficult it might be to professionals like journalists, for example, who need to create different texts every single day, mainly in the beginning of their careers. I believe that as time goes by it becomes easier, since they feel more secure. Probably, it is the same when it comes to learn other languages because in the beginning it is necessary to research many words, but the words which are more used are easier to be memorized. What encourages people to write? At work, or at school, writing is our duty. But some people have pleasure when they are producing, maybe they write with ease or maybe they get great in...

Vacation 2011 My husband and I stayed for approximately four months organizing our vacation, we decided to go to Rio de Janeiro and Paraty, a city 280km far from Rio , then we researched hostels, airfares, bus tickets, places to visit, all without hiring a tourist agency, just on internet, because we wanted to save money. When we arrived it was fun, because some people thought that Marcio, my husband, wasn’t Brazilian and tried to speak in English with him. There are many foreign people in Rio de Janeiro, and he is German descendant, his skin is too white, and he used to wear a hat, to protect him of the sun, but it was unfashionable in Rio. On the first day, we visited the Corcovado, the view at the top is wonderful. There were many tourists there, and we needed to wait a lot to take the train that carries people to Cristo Redentor because the tickets for the next three travels had already been sold . On the second...

My favorite day of the Week

Imagem
My favorite day of the week is Saturday, in the morning! Because, I usually wake up early, but I don't go to work. I normally have breakfast. Then I look for an interesting program on TV. I feed my dog and I wait my wife to wake up. Normally, I have lunch with my wife at home, but, sometimes, we have lunch at a restaurant. After lunch, we go for a walk. In the evening, after we have dinner, we sometimes go to the movies with our friends or we watch a movie at home. Then we go to bed late because nobody works in the morning! by Rafael Basic I Private Student

What's the importance of the classroom? A reflection on learner autonomy and the importance of the classroom by Lindsay Clandfield Submitted by britishcouncil_... on 15 February, 2011 - 08:45 A reflection on learner autonomy and the importance of the classroom by Lindsay Clandfield ( ELT Blogathon Guest Post) Like many other full-time writers, I have to engage in regular physical activity to stop from becoming too sedentary. Some people I know go to a gym, others take the dog for long walks. I go to swimming classes. I can swim. My mother dragged me kicking and screaming when I was five years old to swimming classes and the teacher was of the school that believed the best way for a child to overcome his/her fear of the water was being tossed into the deep end. It eventually did work, and I happily continued swim classes until I was ten years old. At high school I joined the swim team and I swam competitively. I wasn’t Michael Phelps but I could hold my own in a race. I trained ...

Como, por exemplo: "Have you ever traveled abroad?" or "What kind of music do you like?" Então, peça aos alunos que se levantem. Coloque uma música bem animada...
